Stoned Again?
Laurent Grasso, Studies into the Past, 2010.
The painting is from a series, made in collaboration with art restorers, that samples details from famous masters like Botticelli and Fra Angelico and adds spectacular phenomena like eclipses, northern lights, and rocks suspended in the sky.
These are part of the French conceptual artist’s show at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, which also includes neons inspired by Galileo, along with historical works that Grasso selected from the museum’s collections of Renaissance and Baroque art.
